British Dessert:Bakewell Tart
A
Bakewell tart is an English
confection consisting of a shortcrust pastry shell beneath layers of jam,
frangipane, and a topping of flaked almonds. It is a variant of the Bakewell
pudding and although closely associated with the town of Bakewell in
Derbyshire, there is no evidence it originated there.
“This is a recipe for
a lemon bakewell tart, traditionally this is made with raspberry jam, but the
zing of lemon curd really works. Also I've added icing to the top, some recipes
just have a sprinkling of flaked almonds, but I really like the icing on top.” ——Patisserie Makes Perfect
